About East Hazel Crest

East Hazel Crest is located in Chicago's South Suburbs, approximately 20 miles south of downtown Chicago. The Village is one of the smallest communities in the Chicago area.

The Village is served by School District 152 1/2. The grade school which serves East Hazel Crest residents is Lincoln School, located at 173rd and Throop St. Thornwood High School at 172 & South Park Ave. in South Holland, serves East Hazel Crest residents. The Village is also located in the South Suburban Community College District.

There are two parks located within the Village. Friendship Park located at 172nd & Center Ave. features a playground, picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court and the Village Community Center. The Community Center is available for rent by village residents and features a full kitchen with industrial size refrigerator and stove. A second park located at 172nd & Hawthorne features a small playground geared toward smaller children.

Library services are provided by the East Hazel Crest Library Board with contractual services provided by the Homewood Public Library
